Capitol Hyundai celebrates its first NEXO fuel cell delivery in San Jose, Northern California, to an obstetrician and gynecologist, Dr. Steven Vo, who wanted to add a zero-emissions vehicle to his already environment-friendly lifestyle.

NEXO is the cleanest, longest-range zero-emissions SUV for the U.S. market, that is up-to-date with the latest technology, such as Forward Collisions Avoidance Assist, Lane Following Assist, Driver Attention Warning and High Beam Assist. Included in that list of technologies is the Remote Smart Parking Assist, allowing for autonomous parking and autonomously leaving the parking spots. Hyundai also added a Blind-spot View Monitor, providing the driver with a better view when changing lanes. Hyundai NEXO has also won the prestigious Wards’ 10 Best Engine award.

Not only is NEXO quicker, roomier, more efficient and better packaged than the preceding fuel cell, but it is built for a specific vehicle architecture and design. Building on Hyundai’s initiative to deliver more eco-friendly vehicles, NEXO is created with ecological materials, including soybean-oil, based polyurethane paint, bamboo-thread-based biofabric, and bioplastic and bio-carpet extracted from sugar cane. Moreover, bio-based materials were applied to 47 different parts and reduced CO2 emissions by 26lbs during the manufacturing process.

The NEXO Blue model has an estimated range of 611 km (380 miles), offering 40% more range than the Tuscon Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle, and a refueling time of 5 minutes, similar to gasoline-powered SUVs. The Blue model also has an MPGe range of 65 city, 58 highway, and 61 combined. On the other hand, the NEXO Limited Trim has an estimated range of 569 km (354 miles) and an MPGe of 59 city, 54 highway and 57 combined.

The NEXO vehicle can be bought for $58,300, with an option to lease the Blue model for $399 or the Limited model for $499 for 36 months. Drivers are provided with free maintenance with one full year and are eligible for a tax credit (subject to individual tax circumstances) from the state of California for up to $5,000.
