Acquire Quantum EFX won bronze and Voltaprem 5000 won silver in the Materials Science and Engineering category. The company received the awards at a ceremony, held in New York City, to recognize products that showcase their excellence in technological innovation, new product and service development, marketing, and human-centred design.

“Axalta is constantly innovating to provide our customers with the most effective and easy to use products,” says Barry Snyder, Senior Vice President, Chief Technology Officer. “At its core, Axalta is an innovation-driven company—we invest four percent of sales each year into developing new products and technologies. The Acquire Quantum EFX and the Voltaprem 5000 are creative solutions enabling productivity and sustainability. We’re thrilled and honoured to win these Edison Awards.”

According to Axalta, this product offers the first “colour” and “sparkle” measurement technology that helps in enhanced colour and appearance reproduction of OEM factory paint finishes on automobiles. Designed to help customers create more accurate and quicker colour matches, this system features unique colour technology built into a lighter and faster unit. This helps with more vehicle throughput.

Besides providing better coverage, this also increases the efficiency and productivity of the applicator. Axalta asserts that the company’s technological breakthroughs have aided in lowering the application temperature by 20 degrees and allowed for 20% higher application/curing speed. Representing the future for high voltage motor impregnating resins, the Voltaprem 5000 is made up of 25 percent renewable raw materials.
