Collision Management December 2017
Collision Management December 2017. Today’s magazine for collision and insurance professionals.

The December issue of Collision Management is now available online. You can flip through it here, but first, a few words from the Editor-in-Chief of Collision Management, Huw Evans.

Greater Efficiency

Saving time is the most valuable aspect of our business today.

In the collision repair industry, time is our most precious commodity. The more of it we can save, the more productive we can be. And the more productive we are, the more profitable we can be in both the short and long term.

In this issue, much of our focus is on saving time. Take our cover story. Uni-Select’s FinishMaster brand has already been making significant inroads in the PBE sector since the first location was opened last year. With a proven track record in the U.S. for many years, FinishMaster has been helping jobbers realize new efficiencies, allowing them to streamline their operations and provide the support they need to service their collision shop clients as effectively as possible. While in Canada, much of the news regarding FinishMaster has been about corporate stores, in this issue we take a look at the independent jobber network, which is and will continue to be a major part of FinishMaster’s operations.

Very significant savings

Moving to our Special File on Tools & Equipment, the saving time aspect continues. We take a look at how shops can realize overall efficiencies from their operations as well as processes that are becoming part and parcel of operations such as rivet bonding and robotic drying. Since the latter first arrived on these shores a few years ago, shops have been able to realize some very significant savings—in some cases cycle times have been reduced by 40 percent or more.

Even when it comes to rivet bonding, which is fast becoming the de-facto method for repairing panels, we look at why due diligence and following OEM instructions is essential for completing the repair properly and in a timely manner.

And as we enter winter, which is often the busiest season for many shops, every minute we can save in the collision repair process helps.

On a final note, since it is almost winter and the end of the year is virtually upon us, the team at Collision Management would like to wish you a wonderful holiday season and all the best for 2018. See you in the New Year!
