Truck sales represent 76.1% of the new vehicle sales in September.

According to sales figures compiled by the Global Automakers of Canada (GAC), Canadian auto sales slid 3.7% in September to 166,488 units for the month.   The decline was led by passenger vehicles that fell 18% while truck sales rose 1.9%.

“Some manufacturers put up great numbers while others had some significant declines. As the market softens slightly I suspect that we will see future months up a bit or down a bit,” said David Adams, President, Global Automakers of Canada. “Those companies with newer product offerings, and offerings in the light-duty truck ‘wheelhouse’ of the market, will probably continue to do well in the Canadian market.”
