Mitsubishi Earns IIHS TSP Awards

The 2019 Mitsubishi Eclipse Cross was named Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick (TSP) winner when equipped with optional front crash prevention and specific headlights.

Mitsubishi Motors North America (MMNA) received recognition for winning the IIHS Top Safety Pick award for two separate vehicles: the 2019 Eclipse Cross and the 7-passenger Mitsubishi Outlander.

“We’re focused on engineering safety, quality and reliability into every vehicle we build, which is reflected in the IIHS Top Safety Pick recognition for the Eclipse Cross,” said Mark Chaffin, Chief Operating Officer, MMNA. “Eclipse Cross continues to impress customers with its distinctive and rugged design, advanced connectivity features and available active safety equipment that current drivers desire in the popular compact SUV segment.”

The Eclipse Cross receive good ratings in all six crash tests:

  1. Driver-side small overlap front;
  2. Moderate overlap front;
  3. Side;
  4. Roof strength;
  5. Head restraint tests; and
  6. Passenger-side small overlap front test.

The optional front crash prevention system also received an excellent rating in IIHS evaluations by avoiding collisions at 19 and 40 kph.

The vehicle also earned top honours in its SEL trim level that featured LED headlights, Blind Spot Warning (BSW) with Lane Change Assist (LCA) and Rear Cross-Traffic Alert (RCTA).

Each Eclipse Cross comes with a 10-year, 160,934 km Powertrain Limited Warranty; a 5-year, 96,560 km fully transferable New Vehicle Limited Warranty; a 7-year, 160,934 km Anti-Corrosion and Perforation Limited Warranty; and a 5-year, Unlimited Miles Roadside Assistance.
