George Clark, a good friend of the industry, passed away on February 9. He was in his 83rd year and he and wife, Maxine were living in the Rouge Valley Extendicare in Toronto. George was very well liked in the industry—he knew everyone and everyone knew him. He always had a twinkle in his eye and a good word for all.
He started his aftermarket industry career as a manager for one of the industry’s trade publications and went on to become publisher. Leaving that position, he became a sales representative for various publications here and in the U.S. In addition, he wrote and published his own newsletter—Automotive Report. Even when he retired, he never lost contact with the industry.
George had another wonderful talent—a great tenor voice and he was often featured at industry gatherings. He also sang regularly in the choirs of churches in the Toronto area, most often as a soloist. He was with the prestigious Toronto Mendelssohn Choir for about 30 years.
George is survived by his wife of 63 years Maxine, their sons Steve and Mike, and two grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by son Scott. He will be missed.
A Memorial Service will be held on February 27 at 2 pm at Knox United Church, corner of Midland Avenue and Sheppard Avenue East, in Scarborough, Ontario. (SB)
