Expect Renewed Interest from Canadian Tire

Canadian Tire has announced it would renew its focus on its core tire and auto service business. Noting an underperformance in automotive business, Canadian Tire has reshuffled its executive deck in order to profit more of the increasing demand for car parts and repairs caused by the slower economy. Stephen Wetmore, CEO of Canadian Tire, said a few weeks ago that though it has pieces of automotive business in various parts of the country, the company has not increased its marketshare. Looking at improving customer service, Canadian Tire has named Michael Medline to head all of its car-related business including its Parts Source chain, gas stations, and tires, parts and service at its own stores.
