Chrysler Group LLC has announced it would revamp its powertrain line-up with technology that will contribute to an overall fuel-efficiency improvement of more than 25% during the 2010-2014 period. Chrysler will be working with its new partner, Fiat, and among the new products will be new four-cylinder engines based upon the Fiat 1.4-litre Fully Integrated Robotized Engine (FIRE) including Multiair and a new 2.4 litre I-4 world gas engine also featuring Multiair. The all-new 3.6-litre V6 Pentastar engine is also part of the strategy as it will be offered in the upcoming 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Add to that Fiat’s six-speed Dual Dry Clutch Transmission (DDCT) that will show up on some mid-size D-segment cars in 2010. (ED)
