Wi-Fi Technology on the Assembly Line

Ford now uses the Wi-Fi network on its assembly line in order to install the SYNC software on vehicles equipped with the new MyTouch connectivity technology while they are being built.

This new practice eliminates the need to manufacture and store multiple electronic SYNC modules, thus reducing the complexity and the costs of production.

Earlier this year, Ford announced that the next-generation SYNC system, which powers MyFord Touch, would feature an integrated Wi-Fi receiver. Ford now banks even further on the limitless possibilities of the revised wireless connectivity to achieve communication between the vehicle and the assembly line.
