Wednesday, August 25, 2010 The Mitsubishi Clean Across Canada Tour
Two, small electric, right-hand drive cars have been zipping around Quebec since last Saturday. These vehicles make almost no noise while emitting zero emissions. They are the new i-MiEVs (Mitsubishi Innovative Electric Vehicle) commissioned by Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada to complete a pancanadian crossing, dubbed the ‘Clean Across Canada Tour ‘, covering approximately 7,500 km in 28 days.
After stopping in Rivière-du-Loup and in the Quebec City area, the crew kicked off their short, two-day Montreal stay in Boucherville on August 23.
Over the next three years, Hydro-Quebec will try out fifty or so i-MiEVs, testing their performance under differing conditions, including winter, in addition to observing driver behaviour and usage. After this trial, commercial companies and then, ordinary individuals will also be involved in the pilot project.
