Hummer Is Not Dead… Yet

Papers were quick to pick up the story saying that American manufacturer General Motors would begin the slow dismissal of its Hummer division after the deal with Chinese manufacturer Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery fell through as it was not approved by Chinese regulators.  In fact, according to Hummer spokesman Nick Richards, GM is still willing to entertain other offers from prior bidders who had stepped back when GM was dealing with Sichuan Tengzhong. This is what happened in the case of the Saab brand after its sale to the Swedish Koenigsegg Group failed but it was picked up by Spyker Cars NV. (ED)
