The New Camaro Now Available as Body Only

In the industry, it is called a “body in white.” It is a complete car shell but without a powertrain, glass, or interior. And GM Performance Parts is offering one now—the new 2010 Chevrolet Camaro. The basic package will go for $7,000 U.S. and will include an assembled body structure with its front fenders, hood, front valance/grille header panel, roof, doors, rear quarters, trunk lid, and rear valance. It also has the complete floorpan and frame rails. Obviously, this part package is to be used only for racing where customers add their own powertrain, glass and all that goes with a racing car. The bodies will have no identification numbers, meaning that they will be used for racing purposes only. Earlier this year, Mopar also released a similar package with a Dodge Challenger body in white. Customers must fill in an online application to be eligible to buy a Camaro body in white. (ED)
