Thursday, March 04, 2010 The “Gold Digger” Received the Coveted Riddler Award
The 58th Annual Murray’s-O’Reilly Auto Parts Autorama, presented by Meguiar, was held during the last week-end of February in Detroit. Since 1960, the Riddler Award (named for Don Riddler, a very creative character from Michigan) has been awarded to the best hot rod, street machine, or custom car participating in the contest. Eight vehicles—the Pirelli Great Eight—usually make it to the finale and this year, the winner was Tammy Ray of Dahlonega, Georgia, the first woman ever to win the award. Her car, a 1933 Ford Phaeton named Gold Digger, features PPG Paint, a custom interior by M&M Interiors, Foose wheels, and Pirelli P Zero Nero tires. Ray owns a gold mine in North Georgia. (ED)
