3M Alliance Aims at Vehicle Paint Market

A new strategic marketing agreement forged between 3M and Japan’s ANEST IWATA aims to offer an easy-to-use vehicle painting kit for body shop use that combines a high-performing spray gun and sustainable paint preparation system into one package.

Under the agreement, ANEST IWATA will incorporate 3M’s Paint Preparation System (PPS) into an introductory kit with their paint guns, including the new SUPERNOVA WS-400 / LS-400 spray guns; devices that are ergonomically designed to reduce painter fatigue while offering compatibility with new waterborne paints.

3M said PPS simplifies the painting process for body shop workers, reduces volatile organic compound (VOC) emissions, minimizes clean up, and decreases paint waste, while also allowing for spraying at any angle. The kits will be supplied in the global marketplace. (SB)
