2011 Hyundai Sonata Sales Halted by a Door Problem

Today’s consumers are a well protected generation of buyers—no car manufacturer will ever let any of its products leave the assembly lines if ever any little defect is discovered first. That is what has happened recently to Hyundai Motor America, who had to stop the sales of its all-new 2011 Sonata sedan because of faulty locks on the front doors. According to preliminary reports, if the front passengers tried to open their doors from the inside while simultaneously holding down the lock button, the interior door handle would not return to its normal position and it became difficult, if not impossible, to fully close the door (press the lock again and the handle would correct itself). To avoid any accidents, the sales of the car have been stopped until the front door-lock mechanism is repaired. Customers already driving the new Sonatas will be notified to bring their car in for inspection, dealers already having the proper replacement parts. (ED)
